Explore San Carlos

San Carlos settlement is located on the western side of East Falkland and played a crucial role during the 1982 Falklands conflict.

This quiet and remote area was the main British landing site, code-named “Blue Beach”, where forces came ashore before advancing across the Islands. Today, it remains a powerful and atmospheric place to visit.

You’ll explore the British Military Cemetery, which overlooks the waters of what became known as “Bomb Alley” — the narrow stretch where intense air attacks took place during the landings.

Across the valley lies Ajax Bay, which was used as a field hospital during the conflict. From this vantage point, your guide will help bring the events of 1982 into context, while also sharing insight into life in the Falklands today.

The journey to San Carlos also offers stunning scenery, with wide open landscapes, coastal views, and a real sense of the Islands’ scale and remoteness.
